An Indigenous Learning Opportunity running from October to May annually.
Each year – or Season – builds on the next…
Beginning in the Fall, offered in partnership with over 50 non-profit organizations, this course serves to support participants in deepening their understanding of Indigenous knowledge and perspectives while strengthening connections with the local Land and supporting more respectful, reciprocal relationships.
This just a first step – a bridge in awareness and understanding to support local Indigenous learning opportunities.
Early Bird Registration Open Until June 30
The Journey: October, 2024 – May, 2025
Registrants in all 4 Seasons (years) will be able to access:
New self-paced learning released each season (October, January, March) for about 5 hours of total learning (plus opportunities for extending learning).
A 60 min virtual presentation offered each month (both live & recorded options) by an incredible group of Indigenous Leaders, Elders and Educators from across Turtle Island (North America).
$25 towards accessing excellent Indigenous Learning Resources offered in partnership with Indigenous authors, artists and partners.
A Certificate of Completion for the modules and a Certificate of Attendance for watching all of the presentations (live or recorded).
Connect with a Community of Educators from across Turtle Island who can learn, share and connect on this learning journey together.
Season 1
Foundations of Knowledge

This year of learning supports participants in deepening their foundation of knowledge of Indigenous culture, history and perspectives.

Learning from the Land

This year of learning aims to support you in strengthening your personal connections with, and understanding of, the local Land.
Prerequisite: We encourage you to complete Season 1 before undertaking this season (year) of learning

If you aren’t able to undertake the module-based learning that accompanies the 4 Seasons of Indigenous Learning at this time, we invite you to join us for just the presentations.

If you registered for any of these Seasons of Indigenous Learning, but just didn’t have time to complete them, you can register for a 1-year extension to access your learning modules, along with the new presentations.
2024-2025 Indigenous Presenters for Monthly Virtual Presentations
- Participants in all Seasons of Learning will be invited to come together for these Virtual Presentations
- These will be held monthly on Thursdays at 4pm Pacific Time / 7pm Eastern Time and will be, on average, 60 minutes in length
- These will be recorded and the recordings will be made available for all participants in the event you are unable to make them.
- We will offer a Certificate of Attendance (8 Learning Hours) for everyone who watches all 8 presentations (either live, or the recording).

2) LaRae Wiley

Sn̓ʕay̓čkstx (Arrow Lakes Band) and a member of the Colville Confederated Tribes, LaRae is the is the Executive Director and founder of Salish School of Spokane.
3) Jo Chrona
Presentation Date: November 21, 2024
Ganhada of Waap K’oom, is a member of the Kitsumkalum First Nation, a Ts’msyen community.
4) Dr. Gregory Cajete
Presentation Date: December 5, 2024
A Tewa Indian from Santa Clara Pueblo, New Mexico who is the Director of Native American Studies at the University of New Mexico.
5) Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer
Presentation Date: January 16, 2025
A mother, scientist, decorated professor, and enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation.
6) Richard Van Camp
Presentation Date: February 27, 2025
A proud member of the Dogrib (Tłı̨chǫ) Nation and is an internationally renowned storyteller and best-selling author.
7) Christi Belcourt
Presentation Date: March 6, 2025
A Métis visual artist, author, community organizer, environmentalist, social justice advocate, and avid land-based based arts and language learner.
8) Sasha Eugene
Presentation Date: April 10, 2025
Her first gifted home was to the Sexwepmec’u’lecw. By blood she is Kinbasket, Secwepemc, and Russian.
9) Micaela Iron Shell-Dominguez
Presentation Date: May 1, 2025
A Sicangu Lakota, Apache, and Xicana woman who co-founded the International Indigenous Youth Council.

A member of Douglas First Nation and an Indigenous Educator with Rise Up Indigenous Wellness with a focus on outdoor education.

A member of the Saddle Lake First Nation who is a Social Worker with a focus on Indigenous wellness.
Director of Indigenous Learning
Jenna Jasek is a certified teacher, former VP of Indigenous Learning and Equity for Rocky Mountain School District, and has been an Indigenous Advisor with us for several years, helping to launch The Outdoor Learning School & Store, and co-creating the 4 Seasons of Indigenous Learning initiative.
Jenna is on a learning expedition which involves her culture, traditional teachings, languages and Knowledge of nature. She believes Indigenous perspectives connect effortlessly with outdoor, hands-on and place-based learning. Her goal is to provide learners opportunities to explore, learn and immerse themselves in the outdoors and outdoor education alongside Indigenous Perspectives and Knowledge.
Jenna lives at the headwaters of the Columbia River which runs through and is the unceded territories of her ancestors, the Secwépemc and Ktunaxa people.
If you complete all 4 Seasons (years) of learning, we will offer you $100 towards accessing excellent Indigenous Learning Resources. This is in addition to the $25 that you will receive each year.
