Every Child Matters: 4 Seasons of Reconciliation Learning Opportunity
Non-indigenous Educators need to undertake steps towards Truth and Reconciliation in order to engage appropriately and authentically in Indigenous Knowledge and Perspectives, and build respectful and reciprocal relationships.

Current Course Information (SOLD OUT): This pilot Every Child Matters: 4 Seasons of Reconciliation learning opportunity is open to educators from across Turtle Island (North America). This learning opportunity will run from February – June, 2023.
Registration includes:
- 10 Reconciliation Education Learning Modules: ~1 Hour of Learning / Month (see list of modules below)
- A Certificate of Completion issued by the First Nations University of Canada upon completion of the modules
- 5 Opportunities to Gather Virtually with Indigenous Leaders, Elders and/or Knowledge Holders (see list below)
- $25 towards excellent Indigenous Learning Resources
- Access to a Learning Community from across Turtle Island (North America)
$5 from each registration goes directly to supporting the work of the Orange Shirt Society. The remainder will ensure Indigenous presenters, partners and facilitators are given gratitude and appropriately compensated, and will support our ongoing charitable work to ensure Indigenous knowledge and perspectives are foundational to outdoor learning.
The Journey: October, 2023 – June, 2024
All Participants will have the opportunity to:
Access 1 Learning Module per month for 10 months (10 modules in total).
Gather virtually each month to hear from an Indigenous Leader, Educator or Elder (see list below).
Receive $25 towards accessing excellent Indigenous Learning Resources.
Earn a Certificate of Completion for the modules and a Certificate of Attendance for watching all of the presentations (live or recorded).
Connect with a Community of Educators from across Turtle Island who can learn, share and connect on this learning journey together.
Reconciliation Education Learning Modules
We’ll make available 2 modules /month on the 1st of each month. These will take approximately 20-30 minutes each to complete (up to 1 hour / month) and you can do these in your own time, at your own pace. Completion is required for your Certificate of Completion for the First Nations University of Canada.

Shelly Boyd is the Arrow Lakes Cultural Facilitator for Sinixt Confederacy/Colville Confederated Tribes (CCT). Shelly is enrolled Sn̓ʕay̓ckstx/Sinixt through CCT and a cultural knowledge holder who is also formally educated. Prior to her work as the Cultural Facilitator for her people she was a founding member of the Inchelium Language and Cultural Association. Her work revolves around rights, title and interests of the Sinixt.
Phyllis Webstad

Phyllis Webstad is the Founder and Ambassador of the Orange Shirt Society, and tours the country telling her story and raising awareness about the impacts of the residential school system. She is Northern Secwpemc (Shuswap) from the Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation (Canoe Creek Indian Band). She comes from mixed Secwepemc and Irish/French heritage, was born in Dog Creek.
